My Story

There is a saying among birth workers that working with birth is not a career, it is a calling, one that is felt deeply within the soul and hard to ignore. While pregnancy and birth have fascinated me since my teen years, it was not until I birthed my first child in 2006 that the fire of birth work ignited in my soul.

Over the last 20 years, I have spent most of my time working with midwives and OB providers in administrative and light clinical roles and being what I like to call birth adjacent. One of my greatest joys is walking with families from the first prenatal to the last postpartum visit, sharing the highs and lows that come with bringing forth life. For me, there are few greater blessings than sharing in the transformative experience of becoming a parent, whether for the first time or the fifth (or more!) time.

I have birthed three children, and each one was a unique experience. I have had an uncomplicated delivery, an urgent Cesarean birth, and a family-centered Cesarean birth with a premature baby. I have left the hospital two days after birth, and I have experienced visiting my child in NICU day after day. Each birth taught me a little more about myself and opened me up in ways I could never have imagined. There was a time I felt very sad about some of these experiences; now, I am grateful for the wisdom I gained and the knowledge I can share with other birthing families, to reassure them that no matter what direction birth takes, we can mourn our losses, celebrate our wins, and emerge better than ever.
