Emotional Support

Two people embrace closely, conveying warmth. One wears a striped skirt, the other has a plain shirt and pants. Black and white sketch.

While not licensed mental health professionals, doulas are able to offer valuable emotional support during the perinatal period. We hold space for all feelings and experiences, without judgment, so that you can process fears, joys, anxieties, and successes. During labor, we remind you of how strong and capable you are, providing the motivation you may need to keep going. As you and your family are settling into new routines, we listen to the challenges you are facing and celebrate the wins, big and little.

Sometimes all you need is someone to listen and remind you of your strength and worth. Sometimes the experience requires more, and doulas can help with that, too. We can connect parents experiencing more serious mental health conditions with resources in the community for more comprehensive support, whether that is a new parents group, a therapist, or a doctor.

Doulas are great cheerleaders and compassionate listening ears. We have no agenda, hidden or otherwise, beyond seeing you and your family step confidently into this new, exciting life!
